多くの方が「ソロモンの指輪」の翻訳などを読まれたことがあるのではないだろうか。新聞では氏のことを「動物行動学の権威」と書かれていたが、なんか私にはピンとこない。本当に権威なんであろうけども、私には読みやすくて知的刺激にあふれた楽しい本を書いてくれる、やさしげで親切なおじさんというイメージしかないもので。 すばらしい本を何冊も読ませてくださった先生に、心より感謝をいたします。
