旅先で岩波現代文庫から復刊されている五味川純平の「人間の條件」を読了。 学生時代にＡＣＴミニシアターのオールナイトで映画版を見たことがあったが、９時間を超える上映時間を通して、仲代達也演じるところの主人公の運命の救いのなさに暗澹たる気持ちになったことを記憶している。 作品の骨子となる、鉱山での中国人捕虜の労務管理、中隊１５８人のうち４人しか生き残らなかったというソ連国境での戦闘、捕虜生活などは、あとがきによると作者自身の戦争体験と重なるらしい。主人公を貫く劇画的とも言える強烈なヒューマニズムと、作品に通底する反戦というメッセージは、自身の峻烈な体験がなければ書ききれないものだろう。 思えば、戦…
