ウルムチ。カシュガルからの寝台列車の中で、隣にいた中国人と仲良くなって遊んでいました。「トゥモロー」と「イエス」しかいえない彼と、筆談（意外と通じない）で意思を疎通しながら。しかも、飯をおごってくれました。ああ、中華料理。串のケバブもあるのが、ウイグル地区っぽい気分になる。 彼と、簡単な意思疎通がはかれるくらいの中国語ができれば、もっと中国旅行は楽しくなったやろうね。旅行自体は、数字と地名を話せれば出来る。けれど、それだけじゃ、少し物足りないと感じることは多々ある。
