母方の叔母さんの一周忌。久しぶりに同世代の親戚の子たちに出会った。初見、みんな歳とったな…と思う。妹も含め、玉手箱を少し開いたあとのような感じだった。前回にあったのは一年前の通夜。今日は、昼間で強い陽射しのもとにあったせいなのかもしれない。 僕は親戚の中でも長子だから、僕よりみな歳下だ。子供の時からそれぞれを知っている。20、30、40代…様子はさほどに気にならなかった。これが50代が見え始めた月日が落とす影の大きさなのだろうか。 一方で腰こそ大分曲がってしまったが、僕の母は容姿はさほどに変わっていない。生き方、性格、食習慣、遺伝…少なくとも老眼などに縁がないのは、母親のお陰かもしれない… 地…
