神戸を初めて訪れた1981年。 この年は神戸ポートアイランドで博覧会「ポートピア81」が開催された。僕は夏休みに博覧会の見学に来ていた。宿泊は六甲有馬温泉。技術の粋を集めた展示パビリオン、初めて目にする神戸の街は、国際港を擁する港町としての活気と華やかさに満ちていた。これが日本一の貿易港である神戸の活力なのか・・と。実際に神戸は豪華客船の来航、海外物流などあらゆる点で国際貿易港として日本の玄関口だったのが80年代だった。 その後につくばで開催された万国博覧会も「ポートピア81」のインプレッションには遠く。神戸を訪れる機会は社会人になって相当の期間を置いてからになる。 20年もの時を経て再訪した…
